Excellent reminder of the importance of striving for perfect "adab" in all that we do or say.

salam bhai, sorry this is not related to the post but i wanted to ask about your thoughts towards the national sufi council of pakistan and particularly some of the work of yousaf sallahuddin. i have visited his website (yousafsalli.com) and he has some very fine things to say and his efforts seem genuine. although i have issues with him some times diluting sufism and making it too 'humanist', i believe his revival of pakistani sufi music and traditional culture is a great service to all. i await your thoughts.

so obviously I agree with you. Sufism is a Spiritual Path, not Culture. Also it is undertaken because one believes it to be the True Path to God, not because it "counters extremism."

God knows best.

I agree with you but I think based on the hadith, "God is beautiful and He loves beauty," any promotion of Sufi inspired music, art, etc. has a tremendous role in guiding souls and facilitating attraction to God.

On a personal note, the first time I heard Iqbal was through the rock band Junoon and it had such an impact on me that I started to learn urdu, farsi, etc. How many youth today have access to Iqbal and Sufism through pop culture?

absolutely agreed ! :)
And the Shoaib Mansoor video Supreme Ishq I remember brought many to the Path.
